Member Highlight: Meet Tiffany Butler of Union 206 Studios

April 8, 2026

WEBA: Hi Tiffany, we are excited to get the opportunity to speak with you and learn more about Union 206 Studios.

TIFFANY BUTLERThanks for reaching out!

WEBA: To start, tell us about your business: what is your primary product or service, what makes it unique, and
where does your passion for this work come from?

TIFFANY BUTLER: We provide a versatile, all-inclusive rental studio designed specifically for photographers and
videographers to bring their creative visions to life. What makes us unique is that we aren’t just four walls and some
lights; we’ve curated a space that feels like a high-end home away from home, complete with all gear included in the
rental rate. Our passion comes from a deep love for the creative process. I know how much the right environment can
transform a shoot’s energy, and I wanted to build a sanctuary where local photographers and videographers feel
inspired the moment they walk through the door.

WEBA: Sounds like you’ve built something very special. What has been the biggest challenge you have faced in the
business world?

TIFFANY BUTLER: The biggest hurdle was definitely the “build-out” phase, transforming a blank commercial
space into a place that feels warm, inviting, and technically functional. Balancing the aesthetics with the practical
needs of a working set took a lot of late nights and patience. But seeing the first client walk in and exhale a sigh of
relief because the space was “perfect” made every bit of that stress worth it.

WEBA: That must have been a very gratifying experience. Who or what has been the strongest source of support
for running a successful business, and what is your best networking advice?

TIFFANY BUTLER: Our strongest support has been the local creative community itself. Seeing other DMV-area
photographers champion this space and share it with their peers has been incredibly humbling. My best networking
advice: focus on collaboration over competition. In the creative world, there’s plenty of room for everyone to
succeed. If you treat every competitor as a potential collaborator, you’ll find that your business grows through
genuine friendships rather than just transactions.

WEBA: We imagine those words of wisdom will be very helpful for up-and-coming business owners as well as
great reminders for more established entrepreneurs.  As Union 206 Studios continues to develop, what is one major
business goal you are focused on achieving in the next 12 months?

TIFFANY BUTLER: Over the next year, I’m really focused on building community. I want this studio to become a
true hub for the West End, where budding photographers can learn from pros, and we can all grow our skills
together right here in the neighborhood.

WEBA: As an association focused on building connection within the West End business community, that sounds
great to us! What is the most rewarding part of running your business here in Alexandria?

TIFFANY BUTLER: It’s definitely the diversity of the stories being told here. One day we’ll have a family session
for a newborn, and the next we’re hosting a commercial shoot for a local startup. Being the backdrop for so many
important milestones and local success stories makes me feel deeply connected to the heartbeat of Alexandria.

WEBA: How has being a member of WEBA benefited your business or connected you with the community?

TIFFANY BUTLER: WEBA has been an incredible bridge for us. It’s helped me connect with other business
owners who might not be creatives themselves but need professional imagery for their own brands. It’s allowed me to
showcase how a professional studio space can serve the entire West End business ecosystem, not just the arts.

WEBA: That is wonderful to hear! We hope to expand those bridges and continuing bringing people together.
Before we let you go, as a bonus question, what celebrity would you most like to patronize your business, or what’s
one business or community amenity that you’d love to see added to the West End?

TIFFANY BUTLER: If I could choose a celebrity patron I’d love to have Annie Leibovitz come by for a session.
Could you imagine the magic she’d create in our studio? Plus, I’d love to pick her brain over a cup of coffee. For the
West End Wishlist: I would love to see more walkable green spaces or small pocket parks added to the West End.
Having more beautiful outdoor spots nearby would be such a gift for our clients who want to split their sessions
between the studio and a bit of nature.

WEBA: Great answers! Thank you so much for taking the time to answer our questions.
